About Me…..

Growing up, I always wanted to be a writer. My wonderful hard-working family — all educators, artists, and business-people — encouraged me to “follow my passion.” They believed that my interests and strengths would determine my career.

I won writing awards during high school and college and completed an internship in New York City. These experiences helped me earn a teaching fellowship to pay for a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing. Working with students became my calling. My career was decided.

Over the next 25 years, I thrived as a high school English teacher, student advisor, teacher-mentor and curriculum writer. I learned that those who worked most effectively with young adults were people who had rapport, those whom students trusted because they knew they truly cared.

In 2015, I was ready to leave the classroom to focus 1:1 with students. Having taught writing for years, I knew how to help young adults find their voices and discover their passions. I saw how they struggled to express themselves when applying to college. I knew I could provide value. I earned my consulting certifications, was admitted into IECA, started visiting colleges, and created my business.

As a practical and creative ambivert who loves to learn, I put 100% of myself into my family and work, but I also enjoy hiking, listening to live music and history podcasts, cooking, reading, and traveling.

My husband and I live in Austin, Texas and have been blessed with three amazing children. Two daughters (twins!) graduated from university: one from Southern Methodist University and one from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Our son is currently a student at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Our fourth child is a 3 year old Golden Retriever who will always live at home.
